Partnerships

In 2001, a group of local artists and writers were looking to publish the first issue of RIVET.  They approached the Shunpike looking to come under a nonprofit umberella as an innovative combination of media and art with a public benefit. The group subsequently became our very first Partner Artist and went on to publish RIVET's debut issue -- a 12-page black and white zine.

Today, RIVET is a colorful, nationally distributed arts and culture magazine.  Although its needs have changed throughout its development, the Shunpike has continued to provide an evolving complement of services to support RIVET's 15-person staff.  In addition to ongoing bookkeeping, Web hosting and grant-editing services, the Shunpike offsets the pressures of publication costs by managing cash flow between issues, thereby allowing RIVET to strategically and incrementally increase its circulation.  This support has made it possible for RIVET to grow its annual operations by more than 600 percent.
