Shunpike’s 6th annual fundraiser, GOLDEN, was recently held at the oh-so-swell Georgetown Ballroom. Adopting a Roaring Twenties/Speakeasy theme, some 200 guests dressed up in their best 20′s finery as they enjoyed fine food, ‘illicit’ drinks and a packed program of entertainment, silent and live auctions.
A truly eclectic line-up of artists including sultry chanteuse Lyla la Coeur, the unstoppable Liz Cruz of Lily Divine, honky tonk hipsters Ten Man Brass Band, the explosive Massive Monkees, the delightfully quirky Fussy Cloud Puppet Slam, Leo Mayberry of Manifold Motion, and tap queen Denise Rounsavelle of ajusticenetwork, wowed guests with their extraordinary talents and abilities. Even Mike McGinn, the current Mayor of Seattle, got in on the action!
Supporters of Shunpike, old and new, snapped up a range of great silent auction bargains, but the big winners of the night were Washington’s independent arts groups who will continue to be helped through Shunpike’s programs and services. All-in-all the night raised over $30,000.
BIG thanks go to our event sponsors Vulcan Inc., POP, Bonus Gallery and Olsen Kundig Architects, as well as all of the generous businesses and organizations who gave items for auction. We couldn’t have done it without you!
