As more people turn to their computers for entertainment, news, correspondence, and social networking, it has become clear that reaching out to arts audiences and building community requires an established web presence and embrace of online tools. However, with the growing number of website banner ads, text messages, and bulging email inboxes, it is becoming more difficult to cut through the electronic noise with an effective message. In this workshop, we will explore several basic online methods for communicating with and developing audiences. Find out how to use email, social networking, electronic media, and web presence to make the most of your marketing efforts.
Workshop presenter, Erin West, will share experiences, present basic advice, and provide expert insight into the common practices of online marketing in the arts. Erin is Vice President of Arts Marketing at Pop. In her role as Director of Marketing and Communications at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Erin developed a sophisticated and successful digital marketing strategy focused on providing a superior patron experience through targeted e-communications, access to artists, and a dynamic purchase path. Erin's experience as an arts marketer, as a power-user of Tessitura, and as a visionary leader in online marketing allows her to be a strategic partner in helping clients build brands that thrive online.
The Accountability and the Arts series has been developed in support of Shunpike's mission to strengthen the Seattle arts community by partnering with small and mid-size arts groups to develop the business tools they need to succeed. The series launched in April 2005 with a public forum on the concept of accountability, and has continued bimonthly ever since. Accountability and the Arts is sponsored by 4Culture, the Mayor's Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, and Seattle Center.
